I’m in high school, and I play the french horn, a brass instrument. I am beginning to look at colleges and universities for majoring in Music Performance. What are some of the best Music Performance Colleges/Universities in the US?

I plan to double major probably in the medical field, because a music career will not provide the financial support I’ll need. If any of the schools have a good medical/science program, that’s even better.

Well I go to college in Boston and I can tell you that students from Berklee College of Music are usually some extremely good musicians. It’s pretty much impossible to walk through their campus without seeing someone playing an instrument or carrying one on their back. It’s a hard school to get into, but if you get in then it’s definitely going to open lots of doors for you.

    Good luck.

Juilliard in NYC and Berklee (spelled this way) in Boston are oustanding. I know a jazz performance major at Berklee. But because you want to also have a non-musical major, I suggest a large university. Perhaps even Ohio State, if you don’t fear the size. It’s got an outstanding music program and is also internationally renown for its education across many fields.
